I believe there is no “one size fits all” mold that works for every client, as we are all unique in our experiences and interpretations of the world. I am passionate about walking alongside individuals as they learn, grow, and navigate new milestones and obstacles. My desire is to provide a safe and healing atmosphere, filled with compassion, empathy, and support.
I utilize a person-centered approach, focusing on the person; and I employ a Systems Theory lens, assisting in the recognition of the varying systems/relationships in our lives which may impact our daily functioning. In addition, I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to assist clients in navigating choices, and realign with their core values.
Play is a key modality in the counseling process for children, as playing is how children learn, process information, and explore roles. Providing a safe environment for this expression aids children in feeling capable, confident, and successful in their abilities.
Within my own life, I utilize a personal mantra, “Plot twist!”, to remind myself to come back to the moment if things didn’t go as planned or hoped. We cannot control our experiences or how they may affect us. However, we can control how we engage in the experience.
Personal Interests
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, being outdoors, cooking, photography, dancing, and anything with water. I have a loving, supportive husband who can match my quirky tendencies, and makes any day an adventure. While I love a good adventure, I also love being home with my three dogs, working in my yard, playing cornhole, reading, crafting, spending time with friends/family, or curling up on the couch for a movie.
